Origin and history
The house in Peruges, in the department of Ain, is a 15th century civil building. This monument, classified by ministerial decree in 1941, illustrates the medieval domestic architecture typical of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. Its state of conservation and its status as a Historic Monument make it a valuable testimony to the local built heritage.
Peruges, a preserved medieval village, was at that time an active village where the stone and wooden houses reflected the prosperity of the inhabitants, often artisans or merchants. This type of construction, both functional and representative of social status, played a central role in community life. The narrow streets and half-timbered facades recall the characteristic urban organization of the 15th and 16th centuries in France.
The house, identified under cadastre 1435, now belongs to an association. Although its current use (visits, rental, accommodation) is not specified in the sources, its classification in 1941 underscores its heritage importance. Available data from the Merimée database and Monumentum confirm its historical anchoring in the architectural landscape of Peruges.
