Origin and history

The house at 130 rue du Florival in Buhl, Haut-Rhin, is a typical example of domestic architecture from the first quarter of the 19th century. Built in gable on street with a floor on ground floor, it is distinguished by a neat ornaments: balusters in allegories, slit tables and ailerons with winding, all executed in carved pink sandstone. These decorative details reflect a marked aesthetic research for a bourgeois or artisanal home of the time.

In 1968, the building still housed the bakery of Nicolas Triponel, father of six daughters. On that date, two of her daughters, who remained single, still resided there, while the other four, married, were co-owners. This family division illustrates local estate practices and the generational anchoring of trades, such as baker's, in small Alsatian municipalities.

Classified as a historical monument by order of 24 April 1989, the house is protected for its facades and roofs (cadastre 11 89). This inscription underscores its heritage value, both for its architecture and for its testimony on the social and economic life of Buhl in the 19th century. The elements of pink sandstone, an emblematic material of the region, reinforce its historical and artistic interest.

Today, the house remains a visual landmark in the urban landscape of Buhl, recalling the importance of trades and family dynamics in preserving built heritage. Its state of conservation and current use are not specified in available sources, but its inscription ensures its sustainability as a witness to local history.
