Façades and roofs on Rue Molé and Rue des Champeaux: inscription by order of 8 September 1928

Origin and history

The house in Troyes, in the Aube department in the Grand Est region, is a historic monument whose remarkable elements – facades and roofs overlooking Mole and Champeaux streets – were protected by an inscription order in 1928. Its official address, 8 rue Molé, and its approximate location at 9 rue Champeaux make it an architectural landmark of the city centre, although the accuracy of its geolocation is considered mediocre (level 5/10). Such houses, often built between the Middle Ages and the 19th century in cities like Troyes, reflect urban evolution and local construction techniques.

In Troyes, a city marked by its medieval history and its role in the linen trade, these bourgeois or artisanal houses testify to the past prosperity. Their preservation, like that of this house, allows us to understand the social and economic organization of the historic Champagne, now integrated into the Great East.
