Origin and history

Hotel Deheurles is a private hotel located at 34 rue de la Monnaie in Troyes, in the Aube department. Built in the 4th quarter of the 16th century, it is a typical example of the Renaissance architecture of the region, mixing stone and brick. Its street façade, decorated with cartridges bearing the names of Jean Deheurles, P. Berthiers and the date of 1545, bears witness to its rich history and heritage importance.

This hotel was ordered by Jean Deheurles, magistrate and lieutenant of the provost of Troyes in 1544. The interior courtyard houses a stone and brick tower, while the building rests on cellars. After belonging to the Deheurles family, he passed into the hands of Elizabeth Gallien and her sons, before being confiscated as many emigrants during the Revolution. It was then acquired by Bourgouin son in year VIII for 413,000 francs.

Classified as a Historic Monument since 1926, Hotel Deheurles is now a private property. Only its street façade and its cover are protected by the inscription as historical monuments. Its architecture and history make it a key element of the Troyan heritage, reflecting the social and political developments of the region since the 16th century.
