Origin and history

The house located 6 rue Pierre-de-Blois in Blois presents vestiges of medieval buildings dating from the 13th-XIVth century boundary, including a north-on-court building with arches and pillars on terrace, evoking semi-troglodyte habitat. These elements reflect an earlier occupation of the site, prior to the main construction.

In the 2nd quarter of the 16th century, the southern house body was erected in the style of the First Renaissance, with a stair turret and typical openings. The entrance door, classified as Historic Monument in 1928, is distinguished by its vertical panels decorated with diamond and coat of arms, typical of Renaissance art. A well is also constructed during this period.

The 18th century brought notable interior changes: woodwork, fireplaces, and painted hazes are added, while a wooden gallery connects the house body to the north building. The street windows of the house body are also redesigned, reflecting an adaptation to the tastes of the era.

The building thus illustrates an architectural stratification, mixing medieval traces, Renaissance elegance and classical amenities. Its partial inscription (door of entry) in 1928 underscores the heritage value of its most remarkable elements, such as carved vantals and armories.
