Origin and history

This house in Orléans, in the Loiret department, is a typical example of 16th and 17th century civil architecture. Its construction was in progress as early as 1543, and its facade, which has not been revised since then, retains features of the period, although the sills and crumbs of the windows have disappeared. The roof structure, dated from the construction period, is particularly well preserved, especially above the entrance pavilion.

Classified as a Historic Monument, this house was partially protected by order of 2 March 1927, covering its façade on street and roof. Its exact address, 17 rue de la Bretonnerie, is listed in the Merimée base. Although its state of location is considered "a priori satisfactory", no additional details are provided on its current use (visit, rental, etc.).

Available sources, such as Monumentum, highlight its heritage interest, but do not mention any specific sponsors or historical events related to its occupation. The house thus illustrates the evolution of Orléan urban habitat between Renaissance and classical times, while remaining a material testimony of this period.
