Comte de Narbonne - Presumed owner According to local oral tradition.

Origin and history

The house in Prévanches, in the department of Lozère, is an example of 16th century civil architecture. Its stone-cut façade, typical of the Renaissance, features neat decorative elements, including a gate in the middle of the hanger topped by an engraved badge bearing the date of 1597. This portal is protected by an awning supported by three ravens, adding to the elegance of the ensemble. According to local tradition, this building belonged to the Count of Narbonne, although this assignment remains to be confirmed by historical sources.

The building is distinguished by its one-storey structure, whose facade is pierced by two crossed windows, characteristic of bourgeois or aristocratic houses of the time. Classified as a Historical Monument by decree of 11 July 1942, this house illustrates the preserved architectural heritage of the Occitanie region. Its inscription demonstrates its historical importance and the willingness to keep this testimony of the past.

The location of the house, at the 4 Impasse du Porche in Prévanches, is known with an accuracy deemed fair (level 5/10). Although the practical information about his visit or current use (guest rooms, rental) is not specified, his protected status makes him an important part of the local heritage. The data available are mainly from the Merimée database and Monumentum, supplemented by photographic observations under the Creative Commons license.
