Origin and history

The house at 35 Place Saint-Louis in Metz is a historic monument whose facades and arcades were inscribed by order of 24 October 1929. This building, although little documented in the available sources, represents an example of preserved civil architecture in the city centre of Metz, a commune of the Moselle department in the Grand Est region (formerly Lorraine). Arcade houses, typical of medieval or renaissant squares, often played a central role in urban life.

In Metz, a city marked by its commercial and military history, these buildings served both as places of residence, commerce and sociability.
