Origin and history
The Maison du Chapître de Rodez is a historic monument located in the town of Rodez, Occitanie. This building, whose exact address is 2 rue Panavayre, is distinguished by its protected architectural elements, including its street wall with a large gate, a gallery and two corbellations. These characteristics earned him dual protection: a decree of 5 March 1928 for the house (outside classified parts), and a decree of 2 June 1938 for the most remarkable elements.
Rodez, capital of the Aveyron department, is a city with a rich medieval and religious heritage. Corbelled houses, such as the Chapter, were often linked to ecclesiastical institutions or local corporations. These buildings played a central role in urban life, serving as meeting places, administration or representation for the city's elites.
Their preservation demonstrates the importance attached to this architectural heritage in the region.
