Origin and history
The house located rue des Sentiers in Lantillac, Brittany, is an example of Renaissance civil architecture from the 3rd quarter of the 16th century. Its most remarkable element is its granite door, carved in basket handle and framed with pilasters decorated with volute capitals. The diamond frieze and spiral hooked pediment illustrate the influence of Renaissance motifs, typical of this artistic period.
The gate, dated precisely 1568, was protected by a registration order for the Historic Monuments on 20 March 1934. This classification concerns only this architectural element (cadastre ZI 21), stressing its heritage importance. The house, although partially documented, bears witness to the know-how of Breton stone tailors and the adoption of Italian styles in western France.
Located on 15 rue du Manoir (or rue des Sentiers according to the sources), the house is representative of the bourgeois or artisanal houses of the time. Its conservation status and its approximate location (precision noted 7/10) make it a subject of study for the history of Breton rural habitat. No information is available on its current use (visit, accommodation) or its potential historic owners.
