Origin and history
Bastiat House, located in the Landes department (New Aquitaine), is an 18th-century building. This monument has been included in the inventory of Historical Monuments since 1987, especially for its facades, roofs and a four-column gate, architectural elements representative of its time. The exact address, 177 Route du Domaine, is referenced in the Mérimée base under the code Insee 40205, attached to the commune of Nousse.
In the 18th century, bourgeois or notable houses, such as the Bastiat House, often played a central role in the Dutch villages. They reflected the social status of their owners and served as a place of life, but also sometimes as a framework for local economic or administrative activities. In a region marked by agriculture, livestock and forestry, these homes represented a certain prosperity and stability, integrated into a rural fabric where trade and community relations were essential.
