House, including the bread oven in the cellar (Box KS 61, 62): inscription by order of 28 April 1993

Origin and history

This house in Lille, in the Nord department, is a representative example of the Lille civil architecture of the early eighteenth century. Built of brick and stone, it illustrates the techniques and style in vogue in the region at that time. The house forms a coherent architectural ensemble with 38 rue de la Baignerie, highlighting the urbanism of this period.

Classified as a Historical Monument by order of 28 April 1993, this house includes in its protection the bread oven located in its cellar, a rare and characteristic element of bourgeois or artisanal houses of the time. The location, at 1, 1bis rue de la Halloterie, is indicated in the Merimée base, although geographical accuracy is considered poor (level 5/10).

The house is currently owned by a private company, which limits its accessibility to the public. Its inclusion in the inventory of Historic Monuments bears witness to its heritage importance, particularly for its architecture and its preserved interior elements, such as the bread oven. No information is available on any opening to the public, room rental or use as a guest room.
