Origin and history

The Maison de l'Ave-Maria, located in Saint-Antonin-Noble-Val, is a historic monument dating mainly from the sixteenth century. It served as the seat of the Brotherhood of the Virgin, known as the Brotherhood of Ave Maria. The façade of the building is marked by an inscription engraved on the pilasters, "Ave Mar. Gra. Pln. Na," who gave him his current name. This house has kept a gallery of four cross-smelling windows on the first floor, separated by pilasters decorated with pseudo-corinthian capitals.

The present structure of the house combines two distinct periods: an older part, dating back to the 13th or 14th century but now distorted, and another part built in the 16th century. Latin inscription, although partially damaged, remains a testimony of its past religious use. The façade, classified as Historic Monument by decree of 26 August 1926, is the only protected element of the building.

The exact address of the house is the rue des Carmes in Saint-Antonin-Noble-Val, in the department of Tarn-et-Garonne. Although information on its current accessibility (visits, rentals, etc.) is not specified, its location in the historic centre of the city makes it a point of interest for those passionate about architectural and religious heritage.
