Origin and history
The house in Aups, in the Var department, is an 18th-century building. It is distinguished by its sundial, an element protected and inscribed as a Historical Monument by order of 16 November 1949. This dial is located on the south front of the house, which overlooks the Voltaire street, in the heart of the town.
The location of this monument is specified in the Mérimée base, with an official address: 1 rue Voltaire, 83630 Aups. The accuracy of this location is estimated as fair (note 5/10), and the property belongs to the municipality. Although the building is identified as an old house, the available sources do not specify its current use (visit, rental, guest rooms).
The sundial, an emblematic element of this house, is the only component explicitly protected by the legislation on Historical Monuments. The photographs available are attributed to Patrice Rochat, under Creative Commons license. No other information on the architectural history or historical occupants of the building is mentioned in the sources consulted.
