Aimé Riondel - Master mason Constructor of the church in 1688.

Origin and history

The church Saint-Pierre de Manigod is a Catholic building located in the Haute-Savoie department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. It was built in 1688 by the master mason Aimé Riondel, native of Samoëns, and consecrated in 1703. Its architecture combines the Sardinian neoclassical style, typical of the region, with a baroque façade dating from the 16th century, preserved despite subsequent transformations.

The church was enlarged in the 1880s, while preserving historical elements such as its 1689 gate, classified as historic monuments since 1989. It also houses an Italian-style organ, built in 1996 by a Verona organ maker, adding a modern artistic touch to this religious heritage.

The 1689 gate, classified in 1989, is an architectural testimony of the time of its construction. This monument illustrates the evolution of artistic and religious styles in Savoy, between Baroque heritage and Sardinian neoclassical influences, while remaining an active place of worship and a symbol of local heritage.
