Origin and history

The Vau Ardau mansion is a building located in Saint-Cyr-sur-Loire, in the Indre-et-Loire department, in the Centre-Val de Loire region. Built between the second half of the 18th century and the first half of the 19th century, it reflects the architecture of this period of peaty prosperity, marked by the rise of large houses on the outskirts of Tours. The manor house consists of a main house on the ground floor and full, later extended by a building of the same style, as well as an 18th century pavilion located nearby.

The facades and roofs of the house and the pavilion, as well as the entrance gate with its pillars and the circular wall, were inscribed as historical monuments by order of 16 September 1963. This classification reflects the heritage value of the whole, characteristic of the bourgeois or aristocratic constructions of the region at that time. The mansion is part of a historical context in which Tours and its surroundings had a significant urban and architectural development, linked to a dynamic local economy.

The precise location of the mansion is indicated as being at 8 Rue du Vau Ardau, in the commune of Saint-Cyr-sur-Loire. The protected elements specifically include facades, roofs, entrance grid, pillars and circular wall, according to data from the Merimée database. No information is available on its current accessibility (visits, rentals, accommodation).
