Origin and history

This building of the 4th quarter of the 18th century is located in Angoulême, in an area corresponding to the old hunting reserve of the castle. Its rectangular plan is cut in bias, with three floors separated by a bandeau. The facades on the streets of Jena and Austerlitz have four windows per level, with rectangular highlights. The entrance door, framed by two doric columns, supports a straight entablement surmounted by a stone guard adorned with balusters upstairs.

The second floor is distinguished by a rectangular bay framed with pilasters, falling back on the strip separating the floors. The building illustrates the settlement of the 18th and 19th centuries in this area, formerly dedicated to hunting. Its facades and roofs were inscribed in the Historic Monuments by decree of 26 April 1971, highlighting their heritage value.

Today owned by a private company, the building retains architectural elements characteristic of its time, such as doric columns and stone balusters. Its location, at the corner of the streets of Jena and Austerlitz, reflects the urban planning of this period of transformation of the city. The accuracy of its location is estimated to be fair (5/10), based on available data.
