Origin and history
The building of Donzenac, classified Historic Monument, dates from the seventeenth century. Its façade is distinguished by a shallow niche, framed by a arch in the middle of a circular medallion. This medallion, molded by a wand surrounded by a twist and nets, is surmounted by a band bearing a carved inscription. Two bas-reliefs representing circular drums from which flowering stems emerge frame the opening. A wooden statuette, depicting a saint, occupies the niche.
The precise location of the building is the Market Square in Donzenac (Corrèze, Nouvelle-Aquitaine), according to the Merimée data. The building, although identified, enjoys geographical accuracy that is considered poor (note 5/10). No information is available on its current use (visit, rental, accommodation) or on its sponsor.
The available sources (Monumentum, Mérimée base) highlight the artistic interest of the facade, especially for its carved elements (medalion, inscription, plant motifs). The wooden statuette, although mentioned, is not described in detail, and its exact identity (holy represented) is not specified in the documents consulted.
