Origin and history

The building located at 56-58 Cours de l'Intendance in Bordeaux is distinguished by its facade in cut stone, treated in masonry with bossing. Three large arcades frame the bays of the basement and ground floor, while a balcony on console highlights the first floor. The cornice, also on console, crown the ensemble, adding a classic elegance to the structure. The batteries on the ground floor are decorated with medallions carved in bas-relief, testimonies of remarkable craftsmanship.

Ranked as Historic Monument by order of 19 October 1965, this building specifically protects its facades on streets and corresponding roofs (cadastre F 216). Although private property, its architecture reflects the prestige of Bordeaux civil buildings, typical of a time when the stone and decorative elements emphasized the social status of owners or occupants.

The location, between the course of the Intendance and the rue Vital-Carles, places the building in a historic area of Bordeaux, marked by a Haussmannian town planning before the hour. The accuracy of its geometric location is considered passable (note 5/10), indicating a well-documented address but without GPS coordinates perfectly aligned with official sources. The photographs available, such as JuliaCasado's Creative Commons license, allow us to appreciate its architectural details.

No information is available about its access to the public, any tourist vocation (room rental, guest rooms) or its social history (successive owners, past uses). Sources are limited to architectural descriptions and heritage protection, without referring to its construction context or historical occupants.
