On-street facades and corresponding roofs (cf. G 223bis): inscription by order of 8 October 1965
Origin and history
This 18th-century Bordeaux building is part of the original order of Tourny Square, a planned architectural complex. Its façade, treated in masonry arches with bosses, is distinguished by carved key bays, both on the ground floor and on the ground floor. The cornice supports a peak pierced with skylights, also decorated with carved keys and rounded pediments, reflecting the classical style of the era.
Ranked a Historic Monument, the building was partially protected by order of 8 October 1965, covering its facades on street and the corresponding roofs. This inscription highlights the heritage value of its architectural elements, typical of the 18th century Bordeaux. The precise address, 62 aisle of Tourny, confirms its anchoring in the historic district of the city, marked by the urbanisation of the Enlightenment.
Available sources, including the Merimée and Monumentum database, indicate an approximate location (precision noted 5/10), without providing additional details on its contemporary use. The absence of references to visits or services suggests a building primarily residential or institutional, without documented public opening.
