Origin and history
The building in Saint-Léonard-de-Noblat, dating from the 18th century, is distinguished by its typical facade of this period. On the ground floor, a large, low arch was used as a passageway for cars, while on the left, a segmental arched door is surmounted by an ellipsoidal egg-eye. The grid motifs, symmetrical and adorned with volutes, reflect refined craftsmanship, particularly around the central medallion and radiant elements.
The wrought iron grids of impost and egg eye, dated from the 18th century, were protected by a decree of 23 September 1949 as Historical Monuments. Their design combines tangential volutes, stylized leaves and a central rose surrounded by radiant patterns, illustrating the decorative art of the period. The precise address, 5 rue des Sapeurs Firefighters, confirms its anchoring in the historic center of the town.
Although the building is not open to the visit, its architecture and protected features demonstrate the importance of civilian constructions under the Old Regime. The location, noted as poor in precision (5/10), suggests a discreet integration into the urban fabric, without altering its heritage interest. Available sources (Monumentum) highlight its role in local history, not to mention specific sponsors or events.
