Origin and history
The building located at 8 rue Boissac in Lyon, in the Rhône department, is a civil building dating from the 18th century. It is distinguished by its staircase adorned with a ceiling painting classified as a Historical Monument since 1965, a work entitled "Love and Psyche" attributed to the artist Sarrabat. This decor illustrates the taste of the era for mythological themes and pictorial compositions integrated with private architecture.
The official protection concerns only this painting, located in the stairwell (cadastral parks K 389 to 391). The building, owned by a private company, does not have public information on its accessibility (visits, rental, accommodation). Its exact location, although specified by two close addresses (8 and 10 rue Boissac), remains subject to a geolocalized approximation noted as "passable" (5/10) in heritage databases.
The available sources, including the Merimée and Monumentum base, highlight the artistic importance of this decor, typical of Lyon's Enlightenment private hotels. No mention shall be made of the original sponsors, historic occupants, or any subsequent alterations of the building. The 1965 classification order is the only administrative landmark known for this monument.
