Origin and history
The building at the bottom of the Vermenouze impasse in Aurillac is a 18th-century civil building. It is distinguished by its stone gate, decorated with a low-hanging arch and two pilasters. The capitals and the key to the arch form consoles supporting the balcony on the first floor, illustrating a typical architectural know-how of the time.
Inside, the building retains a wooden staircase with balusters as well as Louis XV-style woodwork, characteristic elements of the 18th-century bourgeois heritage. The portal, the only protected element, was inscribed in the Historical Monuments by order of 30 April 1946. Its exact address, 5 impasse Vermenouze, is referenced in the Mérimée database under the code Insee 15014, corresponding to the commune of Aurillac in the Cantal.
The location of the building, noted as "passable" (level 5/10) in the available sources, suggests an approximation in the current GPS coordinates. A photo licensed by Creative Commons, attributed to Father Igor, documents the monument, while the internal data and Monumentum are the main historical sources. No information is provided on its accessibility to the public or its contemporary use.
