Famille d'Abbadie d'Arboucave - Owners for three centuries Marqua the history of the domain

Origin and history

Maslacq Castle finds its origins in an abbey whose existence is attested to in the sixteenth century. This religious site, whose written traces date back to this period, was transformed over the centuries to become a castle. The family of Abbadie d'Arboucave owned it for three centuries, marking its history and architecture.

The present building, built in the 18th century, reflects the architectural and social changes of its time. During the Second World War, he served as a refuge at the École des Roches, a school institution that was retreated into a free zone. This temporary role illustrates its adaptation to the turbulent historical contexts.

Today, Maslacq Castle is a private property that does not visit. Its history thus combines religious heritage, aristocratic occupation and punctual educational function. The sources available, such as Le Guide des châteaux de France (1985), confirm its local importance in the Bear heritage.
