Origin and history

Astilly Castle is a building located in the commune of Etrechy, in the Centre-Val de Loire region. Although its existence is attested, the available sources do not specify its construction period or detailed history. This monument therefore remains partially mysterious for local historians.

In the Centre-Val de Loire region, castles and manor houses have often played a central role in the social and economic organization of the territories. In Etrechy, as in many rural communities, these buildings could be used as seigneurial residences, agricultural management sites or defence points. Their presence generally reflected the importance of local noble or bourgeois families, although the archives specific to this castle remain limited.
