Origin and history

The castle of Diant, located in the eponymous town of Seine-et-Marne, is a historical monument dating back to the thirteenth century. Its towers and walls, still visible today, date from this medieval period, while major modifications were made in the 15th century and in the first half of the 19th century. These transformations concern in particular the housing body and the ancillary buildings, reflecting architectural evolution and residential needs throughout the centuries.

Defensive elements, such as moats, towers and enclosure walls (east and west sides), testify to its initial role as a fortress. The castle was partially protected by two decrees of inscription to the Historical Monuments: on November 23, 1946 for the medieval parts (premises, moats, gate) and on November 20, 1989 for the whole estate, including the house body and outbuildings. These measures highlight its heritage and architectural value.

No information is available on historic owners, significant events or specific uses of the castle over the centuries. The data are limited to its structural evolution and legal protection. The current address, 5052 Avenue du Château, confirms its anchoring in the local landscape, while its opening to the public or its possible contemporary functions (visits, accommodation) are not documented in the sources consulted.
