Origin and history

Vaubadon Castle is a residence built between 1739 and 1778 by the Letellier family in the Calvados department. This building, typical of 18th century architecture, reflects the style of the aristocratic residences of the time in Normandy. It is located in the former municipality of Vaubadon, now integrated in Balleroy-sur-Drôme since 2016.

The estate had several influential owners, including General de Préval, who acquired it in 1810, and then Prince Raymond de Broglie in 1869. The latter, from a noble family, marked the history of the castle, whose descendants, notably Amaury de Broglie, still own it today. A park was built in the 19th century, but some was sold in 1832, considerably reducing its size.

Vaubadon Castle was listed as a Historic Monument on 14 March 2012, a recognition that protects its facades, roofs and park. This ranking underscores its heritage importance in Calvados and Normandy, while preserving a witness to local history and the evolution of seigneurial domains.
