Origin and history

The Catholic Church of St. Teresa of the Child Jesus, located on Rue de la Liberté in Geispolsheim (Bas-Rhin, Greater East Region), was built during the 2nd quarter of the 20th century. This monument, typical of the Alsatian religious architecture of the inter-war period, is distinguished by its urban integration and its central role in local community life. Its listing in the historic monuments inventory in 2002 highlights its heritage value, particularly for its protected interior elements.

The interior of the church houses a remarkable painted decoration made in 1947 by artist Robert Gall. Among these works, a representation of the Holy Trinity still adorns the choir, while two side panels of angels, now missing, dated from the 1940s. These paintings, classified as elements protected by decree of 23 December 2002, illustrate post-Second World War sacred art in Alsace. Their style reflects the artistic currents of the time, mixing religious tradition and modernity.

The building, owned by the municipality, embodies the social and spiritual history of Geispolsheim. Like many religious buildings of this period, it served as a gathering place for the local population, marked by post-war reconstructions and socio-economic transformations. Its exact address, rue de la Liberté, and its INSEE code (67152) anchor it in the territory of Bas-Rhin, near Strasbourg. The accuracy of its geographical location is assessed as very satisfactory (note 8/10).
