Origin and history
The church Saint-Liévin de Mingoval is a religious building located in the commune of Mingoval, in the department of Pas-de-Calais (62), in the Hauts-de-France region. Built in the 4th quarter of the 16th century, it represents an example of the religious architecture of the late Renaissance, a period marked by stylistic and technical changes in the construction of churches in France.
The church bell tower was classified as Historic Monument by decree of 31 January 1927, highlighting its heritage importance. This partial classification indicates that only this part of the building is legally protected, while the rest of the building remains under the responsibility of the municipality, which owns the premises. The location of the church at 2 Church Street is attested by GPS coordinates deemed satisfactory (level 7/10).
Mingival, like many villages in Hauts-de-France, is part of a territory marked by rural and agricultural history. Parish churches, such as Saint-Liévin, played a central role in community life: place of worship, but also of assembly and social organization. Their construction often reflected local prosperity or seigneurial initiatives, although the source text does not specify the sponsors or the exact context of its foundation.
