Origin and history

The Aubertans Coal Cabin is a modest but emblematic building located in the commune of Beaumotte-Aubertans in the Haute-Saône department. Built during the 1st quarter of the 20th century, it reflects the traditional activities associated with the production of charcoal, essential for the domestic and artisanal needs of the time. Its simple architecture reflects local techniques and materials available in this rural region of Burgundy-Franche-Comté.

The building was listed as historic monuments on January 8, 1987, recognizing its heritage value. He also received the "Heritage of the 20th Century" label, highlighting its importance in the industrial and social history of the region. Today, this hut remains a tangible vestige of ancestral know-how and the economic organization of the countryside at the beginning of the 20th century.

The precise location of the hut, at the address 2 Rue des Prés Batus, allows to situate this monument in a geographical setting still marked by its rural past. Although its original function has disappeared, its inscription protects and values this heritage, offering an overview of the living and working conditions of the coalworkers of the time.
