Origin and history
The farm located in Le Bélieu, Doubs, is a historical monument representative of the traditional architecture of pastoral farms on the Russian plateau, dating from the 18th century. It is distinguished by its block-house structure, with a frame on countervented poles, windproof walls, and a corbelling slate. Its interior features, such as the killed, the stove, the stables and the accommodation, are remarkably preserved. Two peculiarities mark this building: the use of irregularly sized stones, probably from the old Château de Réaumont, and the presence of a common oven, identified by oral tradition, located at the southwest corner of the building and preceded by a vaulted room opening outwards.
The 1786 vintage, engraved above the front door with unidentified "CJC" initials, attests to its construction at this time. The farm belonged to the Lambert family between 1832 and 1871, demonstrating continuity in its use and transmission. Located on the southern edge of the old village, it illustrates the adaptation of rural constructions to local geographical and climatic constraints, while integrating recovery materials, as evidenced by the stones of the Château de Réaumont.
The building was inscribed in the Historical Monuments by order of 7 December 2015, thus protecting the entire farm, including the cistern and barn ascent. This recognition underscores its heritage importance, both for its architecture and for its role in the agricultural and social history of the region. Approximate location and poor mapping accuracy (level 5) indicate a need for more accurate documentation for the optimal use of this rural heritage.
