Origin and history

Le Logis de l'Asnerie is a house in the municipality of Morannes-sur-Sarthe-Daumeray, Maine-et-Loire, in the Pays de la Loire region. Dating from the 16th and 17th centuries, this building represents an example of civil architecture of this period, typical of Anjou. It was listed as a historic monument in 1984, reflecting its heritage importance and the desire to preserve this local heritage.

In modern times, homes of this type often served as residences for wealthy families or local notables. In the Pays de la Loire region, and more particularly in Anjou, these houses reflected dominant economic activities, such as agriculture, commerce and crafts. Their architecture, often sober but elegant, was embedded in a rural landscape marked by developing villages and a society organized around lords, bourgeois and peasants.

These buildings played a central role in the social and economic life of their time.
