Origin and history
Le logis de la Constantinière is a residence in the commune of Soulaines-sur-Aubance, Maine-et-Loire, in the Pays de la Loire region. Built in the second half of the 17th century, this building is a typical example of the residential architecture of this period in Anjou. It is distinguished by its organization around an inner courtyard, characteristic of the houses of this time.
The monument was listed as historical monuments by order of 28 December 1994. This protection covers all buildings as well as the inner courtyard, emphasizing the heritage importance of the site. Private property, the home is exceptionally open to the public during certain periods of the year, particularly in July and September, subject to verification by the local authorities or its official page.
The Anjou region, to which Soulaines-sur-Aubance belongs, was in modern times a territory marked by a rural economy and a land nobility. Homes such as Constantinière often served as residences for wealthy families, while playing a role in the social and agricultural organization of the surrounding countryside. Their architecture reflected both the status of their owners and the stylistic influences of the time, mixing local tradition and innovations.
Today, the residence of the Constantinière remains a testimony of this architectural and historical heritage. Its preservation allows us to study the lifestyles and construction techniques of the late seventeenth century in Anjou. The tours offered the public the opportunity to discover this monument, while respecting its private character and its structural integrity.
