Origin and history
Brueil-en-Vexin's seigneurial residence is a historical monument located in the municipality of Brueil-en-Vexin (78). Built between the 4th quarter of the 16th century and the 1st quarter of the 17th century, it embodies the aristocratic residential architecture of the transition between Renaissance and classical times. This building belonged to the former domain of the lords of Brueil, thus reflecting their power and local influence at that time.
The site includes, in addition to the main house, commons, a dovecote, a fence wall and a corner pavilion. These elements, protected by a decree of registration under the Historical Monuments in 1994, illustrate the typical organization of a modern-day seigneury. The estate, although partially preserved, bears witness to the lifestyles and spatial development of the rural elites in Île-de-France in the 16th and 17th centuries.
The location of the house, mentioned in the Mérimée base under the address 37 rue Nationale or 49 Rue du Vexin, enjoys a geographical precision deemed "very satisfactory". This monument, although less documented than other major buildings in the area, offers an overview of secondary seigneurial residences, often less studied but essential to understand the territorial mesh of the French Vexin.
No information is available on opening up to the public, a possible tourist vocation or services such as guest rooms. Sources are limited to Monumentum data and administrative references, without details of historical occupants or significant events related to the site. The 1994 registration aims to preserve an architectural heritage representative of the small seigneuries of Île-de-France.
