Origin and history
Maison Louis XIII, located in Saint-Céré, Occitanie, is a mansion built in the seventeenth century. This historic monument is distinguished by its house body organized between a courtyard and a garden. Its architecture includes a balcony decorated with a high stone balustrade, topped by a pyramidal roof with a lantern, all supported by capital columns. These elements reflect the classical style of the time, while integrating local influences.
The hotel would have been built on the location of the old ditches of the city, possibly for the Bonafous family of Almost, although this attribution remains uncertain. The current windows appear to be the result of major changes made in the 18th century, when the property belonged to the Miramon family. These changes illustrate the evolution of architectural tastes and functional needs between the two centuries.
Classified as a Historical Monument by order of 6 April 1929, Maison Louis XIII bears witness to the urban history of Saint-Céré. Its inscription underlines its heritage value, both for its architecture and for its anchoring in the historical fabric of the city. The approximate location at 1 Carnot Boulevard corresponds to the available data, although geographical accuracy is considered poor (level 5/10).
