Origin and history
The house at 1 Rue des Chapeliers in Lannion is a 16th century building. This building, typical of the Breton civil architecture of the Renaissance, is distinguished by its facade and roof, protected by a decree of inscription under the title of Historical Monuments since 2 December 1926. Its location, in the historic centre of Lannion, reflects the urban importance of this town of the Côtes-d'Armor at that time.
Lannion, a Breton city with a rich architectural heritage, was in the Renaissance a crossroads of commercial and cultural exchanges. The houses of this period, like that of the Chapellers, testify to the local prosperity and influence of the architectural styles of the period. Their preservation makes it possible today to understand the urban and social evolution of the region, marked by a mixture of maritime and rural influences.
The protection of the façade and roof in 1926 underscores the heritage value of this monument. Although little detail is available about its occupants or its precise use, its inclusion in the Historic Monuments makes it a key element of Lannion's built heritage. The approximate location, reported as "passable" (note 5/10), indicates uncertainty about its exact location between the official address and the current GPS coordinates.
