Origin and history
The house at 2 rue d'Armagnac in Rodez is a typical example of 15th and 16th century civil architecture. It probably belonged to great bourgeois or local lords, as evidenced by its three floors and bays characteristic of this period. The façade, as well as the roof, were protected by a registration order in 1950, highlighting their heritage value.
The building is distinguished by its staircase in round tower, a common architectural element in noble houses of the era. Although sources do not specify the identity of historic owners, the style of the home reflects the high social status of its occupants. The location in the centre of Rodez, a city then dynamic in the Rouergue, suggests a role in local economic or political life.
Today, the house is listed in the Mérimée base under the code Insee 12202, corresponding to the commune of Rodez in the department of Aveyron. His exact address, confirmed by official data, is 2 rue d'Armagnac. The accuracy of its geographical location is estimated to be fair (note 5/10), and no information is available on its access to the public or on possible contemporary reuse.
