Origin and history

The house at 29 rue du Docteur-Calmette in Lamballe is a 17th-century civil building. This building, whose facade and roof are protected by a decree of inscription of 11 June 1930, illustrates the architectural heritage of the city. Its historic address has evolved from Rue Basse to Rue du Droit-Calmette, reflecting local urban transformations.

Classified as a Historical Monument, this house now belongs to a private company. Although its current use (visit, rental, accommodation) is not specified in the sources, its registration reflects its heritage value. The location, noted as passable (level 5/10) in the Merimée base, suggests an approximate identification, with a GPS address close but not exact (37 rue du Docteur-Calmette).

In the 17th century, the Côtes d'Armor, a department on which Lamballe depends (code Insee 22093), was an area marked by a rural economy and developing towns. The houses of that time often served as houses for local merchants, artisans or notables, playing a central role in social and economic life. This type of building, by its conservation, offers an overview of the constructive techniques and lifestyle of the period.
