Façade and Roof (Box 75, 76): inscription by order of 11 April 1950

Origin and history

The house located next to the presbytery of Saint-Félix-Lauragais, dating from the 15th century, is distinguished by its typical architecture of this period. A moulded stone headband runs through the facade on the street, while a second headband, positioned two thirds of the height of the bays, forms the upper frame of the shaft windows. These decorative elements, like the florets above the front door, reflect the attention paid to the civil construction of the time.

The separation between this house and the presbytery is marked by a door decorated with a pediment and florets, flanked by two candles supported by carved caps. These architectural details, combined with the protection of facades and roofs (registered by decree of 11 April 1950), underline its heritage importance. The location at 9634 Rue Déodat de Séverac confirms its anchoring in the historical fabric of the village.

Saint-Félix-Lauragais, in Haute-Garonne, was in the 15th century a dynamic village of Lauragais, region marked by agriculture (pastel farming in particular) and trade. The bourgeois or church-related houses, like this one, bear witness to local prosperity and the influence of rural elites. Their preservation offers an overview of daily life and constructive techniques of the late medieval era.
