Origin and history

The Daubigny workshop house, located in Auvers-sur-Oise, was acquired in 1860 by the painter Charles Daubigny. The latter, accompanied by his son Karl and artists such as Jean-Baptiste Corot and Honoré Daumier, enlarged the house and decorated several pieces. The entrance walls, now decorated with copies made by Karl, replace the originals, while the dining room and bedroom of his daughter preserve the frescoes painted directly by Daubigny. The workshop, on the other hand, is covered with marbled canvases signed Corot, arranged above the panel.

Ranked Historic Monument by order of 5 July 1993, the property includes the entire house, its painted decoration and its garden. This place bears witness to the artistic life of the second half of the 19th century, where painters and friends worked together to embellish an intimate and creative space. The official address, 61 rue Daubigny, and its association with the Daubigny Museum underline its place in the local and national heritage.

The accuracy of its location is estimated to be mediocre (note 5/10), but GPS coordinates and the postal address allow the monument to be located in the Val-d The protected elements, such as the wall decorations and the garden, reflect the historical and artistic importance of the site, linked to major figures of 19th-century French painting.
