Origin and history

Bonyt House, located in Collonges-la-Rouge in Corrèze (New Aquitaine), is an emblematic monument of the sixteenth century. Built in red sandstone, a material characteristic of the region, it is distinguished by its lauze cover and its turret housing a stone screw staircase. The entrance door, decorated with mouldings dating from the 15th century, bears witness to a stylistic transition between two epochs. The windows, some of which are decorated with simple or double accolades, add to its remarkable architectural character.

Classified as a Historical Monument by order of 4 January 1951, the Bonyt House is protected for its facades, roofs and its spiral staircase. These elements, typical of Renaissance civil architecture in Limousin, reflect the importance of local stone constructions during this period. The exact address, rue de la Barrière, and its Insee code (19057) confirm its anchoring in the historic village of Collonges-la-Rouge, a village renowned for its red sandstone heritage.

Although the practical information on its visit or current use (rent, guest rooms) is not specified in the sources, its status as a Historic Monument and its architectural features make it a valuable testimony to local history. The accuracy of its location, assessed as fair (note 5/10), suggests a geographical identification to be refined, notably via the approximate GPS coordinates available (5075 Le Bourg).
