Origin and history
The Brigaude House, located in Chanceaux in Burgundy-Franche-Comté, was a 16th century historical monument. It was distinguished by two flamboyant Gothic fireplaces dating back to the late 15th or early 16th century. These remarkable architectural elements were removed even before the building was officially listed as a Historic Monument.
The house was destroyed during World War II in 1942. Available data indicate that its exact location was uncertain, with an approximate address at 17 Grande Rue in Chanceaux. Despite her disappearance, she remains referenced in the heritage bases as a testimony of Renaissance civil architecture in Burgundy.
The chimneys, characteristic of the flamboyant Gothic, illustrated the transition between the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. Their style reflected the influence of local artisans and the artistic exchanges of the period. The destruction of the building in 1942 erased a unique architectural heritage, but its history persisted through archives and official records.
