Origin and history
La Villa Lecomte, located in Lambersart in the Nord department, is an order by G. Lecomte, representative of wines, to the Belgian architect Alphonse Stevens. The latter had already built in 1929 a first house similar to La Madeleine, taking over the same architectural structure. The villa of Lambersart, built in 1932, is distinguished by its marked verticality, accentuated by a concrete portico styling the facade, an ingenious solution to exploit the narrowness of the plot.
The building incorporates a garage on the ground floor, reflecting the architectural innovations of the Art-Deco era. Listed in the inventory of historical monuments on 28 July 2000, the villa was renovated and painted in 2015, led by the architect Vincent Vercoutère. Protected features include the façade, street roofing and fence wall, reflecting its heritage importance.
Alphonse Stevens, a Belgian architect, designed this house as a synthesis between functionality and modern aesthetics. The choice of materials, such as concrete for the portico, and the arrangement of spaces illustrate his avant-garde approach. The villa remains a remarkable example of the adaptation of Art-Deco to urban constraints, while embodying the discreet luxury of the local bourgeoisie of the 1930s.
