Origin and history
Villa Falleur, built in 1936 in Trelon, replaces older buildings. It is designed by the architect Adolphe Danis for the industrial Alphonse Falleur, specialized in yarn for knitted or crocheted. He ran a factory on Rue François Ansiau, reflecting the importance of the textile industry in the region at that time. The villa embodies a mix of Art Deco style, classicism and regionalism, a rare combination for the time.
Adolphe Danis, an architect based in Hautmont in the steel basin of the Sambre, worked mainly for a clientele of industrialists, creating villas and workers' houses. The Falleur House is distinguished by its size and its architectural mastery, called "modern castle" thanks to its careful interior and exterior decorations. The building, massive but elegant, preserves almost all its original features, including details such as wallpapers and electrical board.
Classified as a Historic Monument by order of 25 September 2019, the villa is fully protected, including its facades, roof, interior and fence wall with gate. This protection underlines its heritage importance, both for its architecture and for its exceptional state of conservation. The villa is located on 1 rue de la Liberté, on the cadastral plots 2284 and 2398 of section E of Trelon.
