Façades, Roofs and Stairs (Box AP 48): Registration by decree of 6 November 1997

Origin and history

This house located in Luxeuil-les-Bains, in the Haute-Saône department, is located in an area mixing 15th, 16th and 18th century buildings. Its precise dating remains undetermined, complicated by radical internal transformations that altered its original state. Despite these changes, it retains a high-quality stone façade, a testament to its past architectural importance.

The building was partially protected by an order of 6 November 1997, classifying its facades, roofs and staircases as Historic Monuments. The house, now owned by a private company, is located in Saint Peter's Square, in the heart of an area marked by a rich urban history. Its present state reflects both its heritage and successive adaptations over the centuries.

The location of the house, in a thermal and historical town like Luxeuil-les-Bains, suggests an ancient role in the local urban fabric. The houses of that time often served as residences for wealthy families or artisans, participating in the economic and social life of the city. Their preservation makes it possible to understand the architectural and urban evolution of the region, between medieval heritage and subsequent modernizations.
