Origin and history
The house La Ramée is a residence in Montlouis-sur-Loire, in the department of Indre-et-Loire, in the region of Centre-Val de Loire. Built in the 16th century, it illustrates the architectural style of the French Renaissance, with characteristic decorative elements such as rubble-flying windows, pinnacles, and carved window frames. Its inscription in the title of historical monuments, since 13 November 1973, protects its facades and roofs, as well as remarkable details like a staircase tower decorated with wooded coat of arms.
The north façade of the house is pierced by two gable-topped skylights, accompanied by pinacles, while the south façade features a rectangular staircase tower. The latter is accessible by a door framed with pilasters supporting a curved pediment, decorated with motifs and topped with vases. The windows of the north facade and those of the west span of the south façade still retain their original decoration, showing the care taken to decorate this house.
The exact address of the Maison La Ramée, 36 quai Albert-Baillet, is referenced in the Mérimée base, confirming its anchoring in the local heritage. Although its detailed history and possible owners or sponsors are not mentioned in the available sources, its architecture and protected elements make it a notable example of the built heritage of the Touraine in the 16th century.
