Origin and history
La Recipe House, located in Paunat, is a monument dated between the 4th quarter of the 12th century and the 1st quarter of the 13th century. This building illustrates the medieval civil architecture of the region, although its exact functions and detailed history remain partially documented. At that time, New Aquitaine was marked by a feudal organization and a rural economy.
Houses like this could serve as a place of tax collection or residence for local officers, reflecting the administrative and social role of civilian buildings in small medieval communes.
