Façade (Case AZ 37): entry by order of 23 June 1933
Origin and history
The house Le Moué is an emblematic 16th century building, located in the heart of Malestroit, in Morbihan. It is distinguished by its wooden facade, typical of late medieval architecture, which forms a corbellation above an open gallery on the ground floor. This style reflects the construction techniques of the time, combining aesthetics and functionality.
Classified as a historic monument since June 23, 1933, the house illustrates Breton architectural heritage. Its inscription concerns only the facade, emphasizing its historical and artistic importance. The precise location, at 7 rue du Général-de-Gaulle (formerly Grande-Rue), makes it a central element of the urban landscape of Malestroit.
At the time of its construction, Malestroit was a dynamic city, marked by commercial and craft activities. Wood-paned houses, like this one, often served as housing for local merchants or notables. Their wooden structure allowed rapid and modular construction, adapted to the needs of a growing population. These buildings also played a social role, sometimes housing shops or workshops on the ground floor.
