The façade: inscription by decree of 11 December 1925
Origin and history
The house located at 38 Place Duroc in Pont-à-Mousson is a monument whose heritage value has been recognized by a partial inscription as Historic Monuments. Only its façade, characteristic of local architecture, was officially protected by ministerial decree in 1925. This ranking underscores its aesthetic or historical interest in the urban landscape of this Lorrain city, now integrated into the Greater East region.
Pont-à-Mousson, attached to the department of Meurthe-et-Moselle, is part of a regional history marked by both French and Germanic influences. Bourgeois or artisanal houses, such as those in Place Duroc, often reflect the social and economic evolution of Lorraine between the 19th and 20th centuries. Their preservation makes it possible to understand the lifestyles, local materials and construction techniques of that time, in a city known for its industrial past and its role as a cultural crossroads.
