Origin and history

The house in Belles-Forêts is an old farmhouse built in 1750, as evidenced by the date engraved on the lintel of the carriageway door. This building, typical of the rural architecture of Lorraine, reflects the agricultural and artisanal practices of the eighteenth century in the region. Its ground floor was modified in 1838, also worn on a lintel, marking an adaptation to the needs of the time.

Classified as a Historical Monument by order of 14 December 1992, this house underwent subsequent transformations, including the reconstruction of its post-20th century elevation. Today owned by an association, it retains significant architectural elements, such as the dated doors and the half-timbered structure, characteristic of the farms of the Great East.

The location of the house, at 31 rue des Tilleuls (or 35 rue des Colombiages according to the sources), in the commune of Belles-Forêts (Moselle), makes it a material testimony of the rural history of Lorraine. Its listing as Historic Monuments underscores its heritage importance, although its location accuracy is considered poor (note 5/10).
